Provides outstanding customer service from the initial greeting to the final sale. This will involve assessing customers’ needs and providing information about available products.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers in a friendly manner, with smile and make eye contact

  • Friendly when assisting customers in selecting merchandise

  • Learns selling features of all merchandise and how those features can be presented for greatest customer appeal

  • Gives each customer undivided attention, always recognizes a waiting customer, explains to customers the selling points, benefits, and use the customer will receive from that item

  • Stocks shelves with merchandise to keep displays full

  • Does periodic adjustment counts

  • Operates cash register and records purchases accurately

  • Handles money properly to ensure no cash discrepancies

  • Keeps proper money supply in register at all times

  • Ensures all register procedures are followed for cash transactions, returns, voids, refunds, and credit card purchases

  • Verifies and obtains required signatures for all voids, refunds, no sales, and cashier envelopes

  • Reconciles drop and cash drawer with supervisor

  • Keeps store clean and orderly at all times

  • Assists in other assignments as requested (i.e. markdowns, markups, transfer, etc.)

  • Checks to ensure incoming merchandise is accurately priced, stocked, and stored

  • Assists in the counting and verification of inventory

  • Notifies the Supervisor or Manager immediately of anything that is not standard operating procedure that could have an effect on store operations

  • Utilizes all sources of product information (i.e. tags and labels, magazine, vendor brochures, stock work and handling merchandise)

  • Follow company policies and procedures.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Basic math skills

  • Good verbal communication skills

  • Minimum six months of customer service experience

  • High school diploma

  • Have ability and flexibility to work, nights, week-ends and holidays, to meet the needs of the business

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs, move, bend, twist, kneel and stoop
